Nutrition and Diet

At Pacific Quest, we believe what we put in our bodies directly affects how we feel. Our diet has been developed to provide the needed nutrition, take advantage of all the local foods in Hawaii, and allow for creativity and enjoyment for our students. We teach the basics of nutrition and how the body uses food as fuel. Purified water and herbal tea are the only liquids provided and participants are taught how sugary diets contribute to fluctuating blood sugar levels that cause mood changes and energy crashes.
Students learn how to cook and prepare food using the freshest and most natural ingredients. All kitchen work is closely monitored by staff for safety and hygiene.
Our diet primarily consists of organic ingredients, 50% of which are grown on our organic farm. We provide a whole foods, hypoallergenic, anti-inflammatory, and blood sugar balancing diet rich in critical nutrients for optimizing health.
A typical Pacific Quest diet includes:
- whole grains (brown rice, wheat bread, and quinoa)
- vegetables and fruits
- protein (beans, chicken, fish, tofu, eggs, and nuts)
- limited amounts of dairy (yogurt and cheese)
- no refined sugars or processed foods
