Individual and Group Therapy

Individualized treatment plans are at the core of Pacific Quest’s treatment process. With our small enrollment and specialized programming, we offer each student and family a chance to experience growth at Pacific Quest on a very personal level. Due to the nature of our individualized setting, individual and group therapy sessions are varied. Length and content of the sessions are based on a student’s needs, personal struggles, issues, motivation, and progress in the program.

All students receive at least 90 minutes and up to 3 hours of individual and at least 90 minutes and up to 3 hours group therapy per week with one of our therapists. Individual therapy focuses on personal struggles, dynamics both at home and at Pacific Quest, as well as strategies and coping skills for sustainable change and growth. Group therapy focuses on group and family dynamics, peer relationships, as well as shared struggles and experiences. Groups may focus on a particular challenge or issue such as adoption, drug or alcohol use, computer addiction, divorce, and etc.

In addition to the specialized individual and group sessions provided by the therapists, students gain insight and cope with feelings through in-the-moment peer feedback and communication, and group counseling with field staff. Students are empowered to create and hold their own group sessions to share feelings, challenges and goals.

Communication is an essential part of the treatment process at Pacific Quest. Our therapists are dedicated to thorough and clear communication with students, their families, and any others involved in the support of the student. Within the first 24 hours, our therapists are in contact with parents.

Thereafter, weekly phone calls to parents, educational consultants, and therapists provide information and support during a child’s stay at Pacific Quest. These weekly sessions offer updates on progress, goals, outcomes, recommendations for future plans and support during this time of change and growth. These calls also serve as support, preparation and direction for the parent program.
